The Chicago Pen Show was a very busy show for selling, trading and buying for MVPens. Traffic seemed to be down again on previous shows, and again, no shortage of groans from some table holders.
Dinner shared with friends and acquaintances is always fun at the bigger shows like Chicago, and this year was no exception. The highlight was a sumptuous meal at a fantastic steak joint on Saturday evening.
Our next show is Washington DC. A long trip, but always a great show.

| Demonstrators |
|
In recent years, a number of pen manufacturers have produced 'demonstrators", often as Limited Editions. Of course these pens were made to sell rather than demonstrate.
In the first half of the 20th Century, demonstrators were made together with "dummy" pens as a sales aid, rather than for sale. These "demonstrators were quite often just simple cutaways before quality clear plastic became available.
We have recently acquired an Onoto Plunger Fill demonstrator in clear plastic, with cutaways, from the late 1930s. It clearly demonstrates the piston, ink shut-off and inner-cap seal. The nib is a "dummy" without a slit, possibly to deter the dealer from using it as a replacement spare.
Additionally, we have a later (1950's) Onoto "K" Piston Fill demonstrator in clear plastic. This pen has no nib or feed, and shows no signs of them ever having been fitted.
