Onoto "The Pen"
Onoto, a name derived to sound the same in most languages, was manufactured by Thomas de la Rue (TDLR), a British company specialising in security printing.
TDLR "Plunger Filling" pens were manufactured with the same basic action for more than 40 years, being discontinued in the late 40's. Today, these pens are once again desirable, particularly in countries like Japan, where they were popular in their halcyon days.
Restoration of these pens requires replacement of the plunger washer, cork seels, and often the plunger rod. Of course, like our entire catalogue, we have fully restored the Onoto pens we have for sale. We also offer a repair and restoration service on this type of pen.
Like Conway Stewart, after a gap of many years, the brand name Onoto has been re-registered, and a Limited Edition pen is due for release.

Not long back from my seventh Los Angeles Pen Show; and it's the third time I've seen the Manhattan Beach Marriott's golf course under water!
The show was as busy as usual, and there were the odd bargains to be had. Someone showed me a Waterman Patrician set that they acquired for $400; how did I miss that one!
I'm presently trying to book flights for Chicago (late April) and Washington DC (mid August) shows. It seems to be getting harder to use accumulated miles for tickets and upgrades. We're also planning on being in San Francisco (October) for that show.

We have recently commissioned the manufacture of what we believe to be the best Vacumatic tool. Machined from solid brass, this tool accepts both sizes of Vacumatic valve, and tightens with a large knurled knob.
We have also added a new cap/barrel inspection torch to our growing (watch this space) list of repair parts/tools. The torch is ¼" diameter, is waterproof and has a battery life of ~50 hours. This is useful when checking for cap lip cracks or pressure bar assemblies in barrels.

David Shepherd was at the Los Angeles Pen Show to give a presentation and sign his book on the Parker 51. The book is selling well, and receiving many plaudits from those who have already acquired it.
