Thoughts on Mont Blanc 149 Ownership

A large pen by any measure, the Mont Blanc 149 is obviously too large for many. The majority of second- hand 149s I have bought, either have never been filled, or only filled once or twice and never used again. It seems that it's an expensive (almost $1000 Australian), but popular corporate type gift, but not necessarily appropriate or appreciated by the recipients.

For those of you who must have one, it's a great pen if you like big and wet! I personally find that a Fine will put down as much ink in my hand as would a medium in most other pens.

Dear xxxxxx,

The latest update to our website has just been posted. It is a complete revision as we have moved from MS FrontPage to Adobe GoLive for site construction. If you have any difficulties with the new format, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Pens added in this update include mint Sheaffer Nostalgia and Connaisseur, Sheaffer PFMs, Parker 75s including a Sterling Silver Tiffany, and Limited Editions including a Mont Blanc Prince Regent.

Delivery is FREE to the Washington Pen Show; we leave in just over a week's time.

Orphans

Orphan is the name I've given to pens that include "Frankenpens" (made up from non matching parts) and otherwise imperfect pens. They are not suited, nor good enough, to be retailed, but are either too good or useful to consign to the parts department. I have a number of pens that fall into this category, and strangely, I rarely grow tired of them.

My current orphans include a rather tatty Pelikan M400, a Mont Blanc 252 with obligatory cap crack and incomplete (it crystallised) cap tassie, a Parker 51 double desk set on chipped marble base, and my daily favourite, but very ordinary, Parker 65 (made up of used parts from the parts department!).

Of course I also use non-orphans including a special order Paul Rossi Orange Duofold Centennial (orange ink), and a Pelikan M800 Green Demonstrator (green ink).
