DASI Pens

Hardly a week goes by when I don't either see a DASI pen for repair, or someone asks about them. In Australia, DASI nibs are also found in a variety of pens that have required replacement nibs over the years. Pre-war (WWII), Nibs Ltd in England made the nibs for DASI. Post-war, the nibs were manufactured by Bock. The current owner of "The Pen Shop" in Sydney, Charles Wolf, is the son of one of the founders of DASI Pen Company in Australia. On a recent visit to Sydney, I collected some information on DASI from Charles. It is presented in the following link.

DASI Pen Company....

Dear ******,

As you receive this letter, we will be launching a long overdue update to the website. The update includes the addition of a Parker 75 page for the unusual, an Onoto page and a split of the shared page for Parker 61s and 65s.

Some highlights of the update include a Double Broad Band Conway Stewart #60 Herringbone (Mint with retail Band), a Rolled Silver Caps Parker 51 set, a Parker VP Holy Water Dispenser, a Sheaffer 14ct Gold Masterpiece and hard to find colours in Sheaffer Snorkels.

Pen Shows
Extra security surrounding air travel both to and inside America wasn't the predicted imposition. In fact it now seems to be handled with a great deal more good nature and professionalism than previously.

The Los Angeles Pen Show was a hoot as usual, despite not as much money changing hands as in past years, and a few notable missing faces.

It seems our best intentions are often thwarted by the unpredictable, and that the unpredictable seems to overtake us on the return from overseas pen shows. This time we had a hard disk crash within an hour of returning home. Of course we had all of our data backed up! However, it still took four days to have it repaired and to then re-configure everything. We were so far behind by this time, that any thought of a March newsletter went out of the window.

It's almost time to pack for the Chicago Show. I missed it last year after my flight hit "Clear Air Turbulance" and was diverted to New Zealand where I spent two nights (out of the five I had intended to spend in Chicago). Most of the website stock of pens and pencils will be available at the Chicago Show.

ONOTO Piston Fillers

Over the last 12 months, we have seen a rise in interest in Onoto pens, particularly of the piston fill variety. De la Rue's quality during the period when piston fill pens were made was second to none, and some beautiful pens were manufactured including both large and an oversize (Magna).

We offer a repair service on Onoto Piston Fillers, including the replacement of broken piston rods.

Auctions

In between family travel, Easter and travel to pen shows, we will not be posting any further ebay auctions before early May.

Quotation of the Year

This comes from "Val", a North American correspondent; "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today, it's already tomorrow in Australia!"
